Ok, I picked out a few photos from Shimokita and have put them up. There are a bunch on Matthew’s (another short termer) Flickr site

Lots of things…

This past week Martin and Ruth have been in Kyushu for their wedding anniversary. So we have been here without the usual supervision that we have had before. We still have got plenty done though, and it was nice to work to our own beat instead of trying to fit into someone elses.

I mentioned the trip to Shimokita last week and promised photos, which still haven’t arrived I know, but maybe soon I will have some free time to do it. It feels like such a pain when working on someone elses shared computer…

Mostly I have been working on preparations for my sermon. I am tackling the topic of “Faith” which is a pretty big topic and kind of obscure to talk solely about it as opposed to its relations with something else. But I am going for it none the less! I’m gonna base it on Hebrews 11 (just taking chunks out to focus on particular individuals) and aim to talk about where it comes from and our responsibility to respond to God in the faith He gives us.

Also yesterday we had an outreach with the university group at a gym in hirosaki. We rented the place out from 1pm to 5pm for sport and then a room until 9pm to eat and have some craic. The gym was only really set up for basketball and volleyball (so no 5-a-side) but we did squeeze in a bit of dodgeball. It took me a while to get back into the swing of v-ball after not playing since last camp, and the basketball was interesting.
But the food (take out ramen) was good, Kevin’s talk was cool with a nice illustration game, and then a lot of fun chat and hanging out.

Tomorrow we are going for okonomiyaki with Emiri and Mio (we being a bunch of short termers). I haven’t had proper okonomiyaki since the summer team in 2004! So it should be good!

Hopefully I will get around to some photos soon though…
