The Move

April 22nd, 2006 Posted in Uncategorized

On Monday past I moved from Ajigasawa to Itayanagi. The Elliots left to go on home assignment for 3 months and I couldn’t stay at Ajigasawa. So I have moved. the new place is interesting, about an hour away from Ajigasawa and slightly less countryside. But still very countryside. I am living in the church with 2 other short termers, David Porter and Kevin Ueta. If you are a long time reader of Flat3D you’d remember kevin from my trip to Canada. He was the guy who I stayed with the second week, so it’s really good to see him again. Maybe there will be photos up sometime soon…

Anyways most of my ministry here is teaching English. We are doing classes three times a week with a total of 5 classes (so far). It’s kind of funny that I wasn’t too keen to go to Sendai because I didn’t want to teach English, but thats life I guess. I get the feeling the Ghents just don’t really know what to do with me.

Anyways, it was kind of sad to leave Aji and see the elliots go, but I will be going back once a week to help with their youth ministry, if it gets off the ground. and living with a coupe of guys is a nice change from living with a family of girls (Except John of course!)

so yeah, just a quick update to let people know where I am!

Adam’s grad is over, its finally gotten sane around here and we moved in with Leta last night.

After our arrival I discovered that public transit out of NB is intermittant and exhorbitant - a fact that I should have known by now - and was beginning to feel we might be here indefinitely. But Leta has wheedled her father into coming down to get us. He should be arriving in a few hours.

Have you been able to go along to the KGK meetings? Adm about the Aji youth group - did one of you remind the Matsuoka girls ahead of time? Do you have contact info for Haruka (girl at the Jersey farm), Shintaro (who used to come to SS regularly) and his cousin Tomonori (lives near us)?

I’ve been wanting to write to you but I’m unable to use my PC - if you can imagine that! - for this part of the trip so I’m waiting until after we get back down to Ontario on the weekend.
