Hmmm

October 20th, 2005 Posted in Uncategorized

Quite a lot of stuff has been going on since the last time I posted, mostly the same stuff I have posted about before, teaching english and so on, but also some new stuff. I have climbed mount Iwaki, I have been to Aomori, I was at the KGK bible study in Hirosaki, the english bible study began on Monday night…. So yeah its all been pretty busy, also the Elliots are preparing to go to the US for their daughter’s wedding and so there has been a lot going on around here.

I have quite a few photos to post, but not really the time to shrink them down and rotate them etc… Maybe another day…

Sorry this is such a short update, but hopefully I will write a longer one soon.

Wow, you have been busy - not all work though, right? Or was climing Mt Iwaki considered work?

Great that you are able to explore the local scenery! Have you found anywhere for kayakking (sp?) yet?

Climb every mountain! This is what the Sound of Music tells us. I passed up the opportunity to climb Fiji in the dark- how I regret it now! Hehe so you’re into the KGK? That’s cool, what sort of size is it in your prefecture? The Myagi one is pretty small.. Are you leading the English Bible study at all? Oh, just post more man!! ;)

Dear John, I am a mate of your Dad’s. We became friends at Queen’s back in the seventies. I just want to wish you well in your mission to Japan. Japan does not seem to be fertile soil in which the gospel might take root. But who am I to cast doubts on God’s work? I am sure that you are most courageous to have flung yourself into the mission at this stage. In my work as a Presbyterian minister in Dublin I undertake to pray for people. I promise to pray for you and for the success of your mission. Now that I have found your website, I can keep up with your progress. Do you know the Japanese Christian novelist Sushako Endo? I am reading his novel ‘Silence’ right now. It is about the Jesuit mission to Japan in the seventeenth century. Philip Yancey recommends Endo’s writing. with every good wish, Denis Campbell.
