Bah

Every time I have an interview with someone from omf it worries me… It always makes me feel underprepared or not holy enough or something…

Today I had an interview with StJohn and his wife Eleanor. It was a straight forward affair, nothing too formal, he basically asked me about some things that I ought to have considered before going on a mission with omf; things like dealing with loneliness, being a single guy etc, also the other issues singleness brings up.
And as I spend runs time with the bible-colleged candidates, the less I feel suitable for omf work… for missionary work in general. I dunno.

On top of it all, I don’t feel too well.

if you feel like helping me, please pray for me. For my health, for my time at Sevenoaks, for the rest of my preparations before leaving and for a feeling of God’s peace.

Hurrah for technophobes!

here I am at the Killingray’s house, Michael and I have been moved here to make room in Ashley house.

And I have found me an open wi-fi connection by the window in my room!

So expect to hear plenty from me!

Virus!

July 13th, 2005 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

At camp, a whole load of people were sick due to a air-born virus. The virus had an incubation period of 48 hours, which means that it can live inactively for 48 hours before and after the victim is sick.

When I left camp on Monday morning I was feeling somewhat suspect, then on tuesday morning I was close to being sick several times. However, I wasn’t sick, nor did I have the diarrhea (sp?) that was the other symptom of the virus. This morning (48 hours after last contact with campers) I feel pretty ok, I ate some breakfast and am waiting to see how it makes me feel. If I am ok I will rejoin the group this evening or tomorrow morning.

It may be that I was feeling a bit sick due to the swimming in floaties at babbicomb beach on Sunday afternoon, or perhaps I was just zonked after camp… Anyways, the important thing is that if I do have the virus I don’t spread it to anyone else here or there will be an epidemic!

In other news…
Ruth emailled me to say my Certificate of Eligibility for a visa to get into Japan arrived in the Ichikawa office yesterday, she is sending it to me here in Sevenoaks then, assuming it arrives on time, I can take an afternoon to scoot down into the city to the Japanese Embassy and get my visa! Hooray!

In other other news….
My friend had a cat scan yesterday and won’t email me to tell me how it went! Email me!!

Sitting

Sitting waiting for my train to paddington. I missed the direct train from Teignmouth, but got a ticket via Exeter. A lot of people find travel by public transport a worrying thing, panicking about missing planes or trains… But I find the whole lack of control situation quite relaxing. There is no point worrying about things you can’t control, especially when they are as inconsequential as travelling from A-B. Besides, in today’s modern world there will usually be another train or bus along soon enough…

Rather, we should be worrying about the choices we make that have consequences that are more severe and irreversible. One choice in particular.

Missing the rest of camp kind of sucks but I guess it-mems I won’t get sick… Although I feel a bit iffy now…
